Yoga
Hatha yoga, a spiritual practice conceived in the traditions of India, is focused on joining the body, mind and spirit into unity through the disciplines of physical poses, breathing techniques and mediation. To practice yoga is a form of stewardship in which we can become better caretakers of the body, mind and spirit given to us by a loving God. Learning yoga poses is non-competitive, yet challenging as each person discovers places within themselves that are in need of balance and expansion.
In practicing yoga, we are:
- Using our bodies to stretch and open
- Using our minds to become aware of our potentials and our limits
- Using our spirits to recognize and acknowledge God in our lives
Some benefits of yoga are:
- We learn to value all aspects of our being
- We find enhanced healthfulness
- We cultivate peace in the midst of our non-stop stress filled lives
Classes at Amazing Grace have been meeting since 2001 on Saturday mornings at 9:00AM, 2-3 times a month. The class is taught at a beginner level and we always welcome new participants. We ask that participants wear comfortable clothing and bring yoga mats with them, but there is often at least one to share for anyone who wants to try it out. The cost of the class is a free will donation.
Yoga classes this month are very spread out, kind of like bookends at either end of March. In the meantime, happy stretching and St. Patrick’s Day!
Our next Yoga classes in the month of March will be on:
- Saturday, March 3rd from 9:00 – 10:00 am in the Fellowship Hall.
- Saturday, March 31st from 9:00 – 10:00 am in the Fellowship Hall.
