Habitat for
Humanity Build
On Saturday, April 28 Amazing Grace participated in Habitat for Humanity, organized by the Gwinnett Chapter and supported by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. We were joined by the good people of All Saints Lutheran in Lilburn. The house was a foreclosure in Snellville and is receiving a complete remodeling.
There were three main projects for the day. Sheet rocking the bathroom and bedrooms was ably handled by Bob Lee, Parry Moss and Roger Nagy. Our siding crew consisted of Bill and Kay McKenny doing the sides of the house. The McKenny’s spent most of the day on 20 feet off the ground, on ladders, siding at the peak of the roof. Alana Sue Fowler also did siding with a crew on the front of the home. Pastor Jason Talsness put his height to good use by holding plywood in place as it was being nailed in the soffits. He also coordinated lunch and purchased beverages. Another crew constructed a back deck.
The home’s future owner, Mr. Rufat Krivanjeva and his three sons were also at the build. Originally from Kosovo, the Krivanjevans were grateful for the help we Lutherans provided. It is estimated the home will be completed by the end of May. Watch for future announcements about the dedication.
The Lawrenceville Cooperative Food Ministry Update
Hello, Amazing Grace! Are you thanking God for these wonderful beautiful days we are having? We’ve had a few April showers, lots of winds blowing around, and the colors of Spring and oncoming May flowers are everywhere! We can see God’s wonders all around us! If you seem too busy to enjoy God’s creation, just stop and look around you! Nature is beautiful at this time of year!
I would like to thank you for taking the crosses off of the Easter Poster in the Narthex and generously bringing in items for the Food Bank! I think the posters that have been made so far have helped us all be aware of the needs of the Lawrenceville Cooperative Ministry Food Bank! I am so glad to say that everyone has been so giving with items for our neighbors in need! Thank you again.
A reading I heard during a Wednesday night service is the inspiration for May’s Bible quote. The verses are from 1 John 3:16-17 and they are… “We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us–and we ought to lay down our lives for one another. How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help?”…
I was very moved by these words and the first thing I thought of after hearing these two verses was the Lawrenceville Coop Food Bank and how we are doing our best to keep the shelves stocked with foods and goods that are needed the most!
We have donated 215 items to the Lawrenceville Cooperative Ministry Food Bank so far for this report! We are doing a wonderful job with goods. I have said before, that I do not know how much money is collected, but you are invited to make a monetary gift to the Coop in the offering plate (some envelopes on the table in the Narthex have been made available to you for your convenience for giving).
OR, you are invited to send a donation directly to the Coop at this address:
Lawrenceville Cooperative Ministry
176 Church Street

Lawrenceville, Georgia 30046
Once again I Thank You, Amazing Grace, for your kindness for giving and helping out our neighbors through the efforts of the Lawrenceville Cooperative Ministry Food Bank. You are helping your brothers and sisters around Lawrenceville and Dacula! May God be with you and bless you for this kindness!!!
God’s Humble Servant,
Linda MacKinnon
